I've created an update script for dungog.net's Update System contrib.
It was taken from the version 3 unofficial update script (only the rpm's, not any downloaded and installed from a script)
It would be nice if contribs could host something like this (just as dungog.net host for their own contribs) so that we could link to it and it would be updated with the latest rpm's, as long as it's kept up-to-date. You could then run the update script when you wanted and have a straight link the the correct rpm file.
Just cut and paste the text into a text file and save onto your website. Enter the relevant URL as a new url for updates in the Update System server-manager panel.
Warning this seems to just check version numbers specifically, it doesn't differentiate between older /newer version numbers. i.e I have a newer version of perl-Net-Ping but it see that my version of perl-Net-Ping is different from the version in the update script (left that one in as I installed a newer version of perl-Net-Ping so that I could enable Sender Policy Framework in ASSP)
It doesn't seem to be a great problem as long as you know what you've got installed.
I may be wrong about this and would be happily corrected.
