Topic: need help with file size please

ok guys sorry for asking this but i couldnt find anything on file size.ok i have my server up and running.im runing sme 6.0 and everything's ok with my web pages and my links.the problem im having is a file size 1gb or larger.is there a setting to set the limit on a file size,or i just cant download something that size.thanks for the help........

ok let me try to explain this alittle better.im trying to move large files and my server will not let me do it.i have a file right now on my server and when i try to download the file it says its forbidden you do not have the right to acess this.now the file is 2.0gig,when i download something alot smaller i do not have a problem.i even zipped the file with winrar,windows zip,nothing works.my question is,is there a limit to a file size to be downloaded.because a 2gig file will not download........hopes this helps.

What OS are you trying to download to? And what sort of download are you talking about? For example, do you mean a web (http) or FTP download, or do you mean SMB (e.g. a "shared folder" accessed via Windows' "Network Neighborhood")?

Some operating systems/file systems have file size limits which could affect you - for example if I recall correctly Windows 98/FAT 32 will not go above 2 GB.

im running windowsxp pro.i moved a 2gig backup file over  my network to an i-bay on my server and now i would to download it from work and i cant.its forbidden.the work pc is winxp pro.im trying through http//xxx.xx.xxx.xxx have not sent my server up for ftp.not sure that will work either.but like i said a smaller file i can download.so if thats the case on windows can you change the file size on xp.and no im not set for file sharing.just off my web site i made on sme6.0

ok i found out that im able to download a file larger then 2 gig's.im downloading a movie from this site right now and its 3 gig's.and i guess with a winxp you can download up to 32 gig's if it's in the ntfs format,well thats what i found on this web site.if its a fat32 you can download 2 gig's.so i know now its not my os,its something to do with my server.hope this helps.
