Unfortunatly, there is very little I can do because this level of expertise is out of my reach...

But this sounds related:

Quote
Password: # This is the SASL2 password
IMAP Password: # This is the IMAP password that you need to enter in the mys
ql-table »accountusers«
But this is only after I changed the startup script for saslauthd to start
with '-a pam' instead of '-a shadow'. I'm trying to get the setup to use
pam_mysql.

Well I would suggest removing the apache/db4 upgrades you have done as part of the upgrade script (or if you did this on a backup/test server - just try the script again with the apache install commented out).  I think it is pretty clear that the 'smeplus' upgrade script is unofficcial and not supported - and especially that it is not tested on a modified server.

That being said, once you figure out what you have to remove/downgrade to get your system working, post on the upgrade script thread and someone can write something in the script to detect if cyrus-imap is installed and NOT install whatever it is that makes Cyrus-imap break.

I see what you meant with DB4... The cyrus package installs db3x-3.2.9-4.i386.rpm. I did a test and I've posted it in the smeplus thread... but it did not work neither when I excluded db4 and securemail.

As I posted in the smeplus thread, the update without apache (db4), securemail (ssl-imap) and double-bounce, the cyrus-imap could not authenticate.

Without this folder sharing, I don't think SME-Server is appropriate to support groupware. The trend toward such a imap server as cyrus is well known. It will be better to look at Kolab2 dispite the problem of managing a different distro.

After trying Mandrake with Kolab and CentOS with exchange4linux, I don't feel comfortable with any of these... It works but is it secured?! It requires a knowledge that I don't possess... Back to dovecot then.
