info on 4.0

Hey all,

I'm anxiously awaiting v.4.0, and it'd better be here in the next 2 or 3 weeks like the post said.  ;)

But for real, I've been poking around for a FAQ or features list for the new version.  Is there anything yet about it, like a manual or something?

I know that virtual domains are incorporated into the base structure (thankyouthankyouthankyou).  Will FTP be improved?  Samba?
What I'm' really curious about specifically is:
1-Will users be able to access (read _and_ write) the FTP site outside the internal network? So, like, if I'm at work, will I be able to FTP work-files to my house (where the eSmith server is hooked up to my cable modem)?
2-For now, I can access the server through Network Neighorhood, which is pretty friggin' cool.  I can read the HTML directories, but i can't write.  In 4.0, will I be able to write to the Internet visible directories if I'm logged into MS Networking as a client user?  Supposing I have pictures of my dog that I store on the server to access from all the Win98 machines, but I also want to be able to look at Spot when I'm at work via the web.  Is that going to happen?
3-Can any of these be done with v.3.1, and if so, where can I find docs on how to do this to tide me oer until v.4.0?

You guys got it going on.  But we want even more from you now.  :)

I know that's a ear(eye)-full, but I'm really wanting to know what you guys have in store.

How about we say "Before Win2000"? :-)

http://www.e-smith.org/future/ has something. Some of the detail may have changed. And will change again, in response to user demands, and according to what is possible in the time.

As to the rest of your questions, I suggest that you join the
developer mailing list (see Resources on this web site) to provide your feedback and ask your questions.
