3ware raid and some newbie question
« on: December 23, 2004, 06:22:02 AM »
I am an old e-smith watcher going to become a contribs user. I have played around with contribs software for a few year and now I want to get serious. I am looking at putting together a test server in a business that I am a friend with and I have a few questions. One is I have a 3ware 5000 series board that said it is compatible with red hat, will this work with the latest 6.x version of contribs? I want 2 mirror sets, one for the main install and one for a hot swapping backup's. If 3ware 5000 series is not a good ide raid for contribs would anybody have any suggestions. Also I have looked around for a few backup scenarios and have found little I liked. I just want to backup to the second mirror or D drive. Then unmount it and pull it out and slap in my new drive. This would be Monday and then repeat the process a few days a week, can this be done. Is their a "Ghost" like program where I can dump an image on the fly to the D drive then pull it for a daily or week backup. This would be nice if you needed to restore after a major crash and have something like ghost explorer for single files. Any help would be appreciated because I am jumping in with both feet
