Here is the situation. I've got several SME servers set up on different domains all functioning correctly as they should. What I need to have happen is when the primary email server's Internet access is cut off that a failover server on a second or alternate connection can accept mail and deliver to the primary email server. I believe this is a relay function but am not sure how to set it up and make it work. All of our primary email goes to Postini.com where it is filtered and then directed to where we need it to go and this is where we point to the alternate or "failover" server. Everything is done by IP address . Here's how I think it should work. Normal setup is postini.com to theeagle.com failover should be postini.com to theeagleweb.com then to theeagle.com. I'm not as concerned about outgoing messages as they will be stored until the servers primary connection is restored. What do I need to set in the alternate-relay email server to get it to route mail to the primary email server. The primary email server is dedicated to email and is a stand alone server with one NIC. Should I install a second NIC and connect it to the alternate Internet access? would that be easiest?
