Local Administrator rights for users.

My scenario:

SME 6.1 as PDC for small school network. Users are using WinXP/SP2 machines and logging into the domain.

Been working semi-flawlessly over the last year or so.

I want to grant certain users local administrator rights so that they can install software on their local workstation (example, school principle who's a semi-techy...)

I tried some things that I read here a while ago (adding  users to the adm group, etc.) but I'm still not having much luck.

How can it be done easily? I know in AD it's a piece of cake...

Anyways, any tips/thoughts would be great.

thanks.

I think that is an XP problem rather than an SME problem,

I'd try setting up a new user account on XP and try to force the account into computer administrator mode on XP, but in an SME group without admin privileges.

Alternately, you can set up XP with dual login, with a local login as an administrator .
