I want to install SME 6.0.1 on a Compaq Proliant 2500 but the kernel doesn't recognize more then 16MB I think. I do know that I could use parameters like "mem 640@0 mem 15M@1M mem 240M@16M" but when or where do I enter them? And can I enter "mem 640@0 mem 255M@1M" instead?

Well, the information on that site is useful but not if you're using SME. SME just stops booting from the install CD (even from a boot disk) saying I don't have enough memory..

"You do not have enough RAM to install SME Server on this machine."

And then you can press F12 or OK to reboot the machine. If I press Ctrl-Alt-F3 it says

"* 13840 kB are available"

What should be like 259600 kB. The thing is, I don't have a chance to edit lilo.conf since I don't get that far...

That's where I found the answer  

I inserted the CD, pressed Ctrl-C at boottime and entered

accept exactmem mem=640@0 mem=255M@1M

Works like a charm!
