ANNOUNCE - Script to install Zend, Turck-MMCache, PHPCoder
« on: January 11, 2005, 08:09:57 AM »
Hello everyone, I made a script to install Zend Optimizer, Turck-MMCache and PHPCoder.
Note - changed from Turck-mmcache to eAcellerator

Only very slight modification to the script is required I think if you have a newer version of PHP than 4.1.2 (SME 6.0.1-01 version), but thats all I have tested it with.

I put it on a wiki page here:
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/Howto:InstallZendOptimizer-TurckMMCache-PHPCoder

Let me know if it works ok - if you are brave enough to try it :-)

Just a note, I also came upon http://sourceforge.net/projects/eaccelerator/ which is an updated version of Turck-MMCache.  That may be something to switch to later on...

I didn't check your install script, but maybe you want to give this a look:

Mastersleepy made a Turck-MMCache rpm. It installs a server-manager panel to set the cache on/of for each ibay.

Hmmm, I never tried his contrib, I didn't realize it had those features...I am a little worried that you would need the option to turn it off.  What applications are not compatible with Turck-mmcache?  I would think you would want it on for everything.

I don't need the option to turn it off. Turck-MMCache works great on my server with PHP 4.3.10 installed.

I just thought it's easier to install this rpm. Your script does the job but is more complicated.

I updated the script to install eAcellerator instead of Turck-mmcache since eAccellerator is compatible with PHP 4.3.10 and PHP 5 and is being actively developed.  So now it is different at least from MasterSleepy's contrib.  Probably someone could easily make an rpm, but that is not one of my skills yet.
