How do I upgrade a 6.0 e-smith to the current version 6.01-X

I've looked through the website and I can't get a clear indication how I need to upgrade a 6.0 system.  I'm having problems with it after a year and a half and I'm hoping the update will cure some of them.

You boot from the newer version CD and it will (should) detect the existing version and offer you the upgrade option - easy.

Maybe you want to 'stall' and upgrade since there are talks about an upcomming new release. BUT "I's done when it is done" applies ;-)

I too have an install that used to be 6.0 Beta 3, but after installing a number of .rpms I believe I upgraded to 6.0 as that is what is says in /server-manager.

Now the question becomes how 'safe' is it to just do the upgrade on a running server?  I've installed some contribs like spamassasin and awstats, among a couple other small ones.  I've also installed some PHP software like Gallery in an ibay...

if I just do the upgrade, will all the installed software I have still work?  I mean, how smart is the upgrade feature?

The 'upgrade feature' is based upon a basic install of SME Server, without any third party contribs.

Remove any contribs before the upgrade and reinstall them afterwards. This is at your own risk, as it has always been.

Please consult the contribs readme's for 'compatibility' and other instructions from the author of the contrib.
