« on: January 18, 2005, 01:51:05 PM »
Hi,

I just tried to print but my printer does not respond, so I wanted to access CUPS http://192.168.1.1:631/) and got this error message:

ERROR
The requested URL could not be retrieved
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While trying to retrieve the URL: http://192.168.1.1:631/

The following error was encountered:

Connection Failed
The system returned:

    (111) Connection refused
The remote host or network may be down. Please try the request again.
 :-(

What can I do to correct this problem - I REALLY NEED TO USE THE PRINTER!  :-?

Thanx

/Carl

I typed a 'service cups status' and it says that it is stopped and I can't start it

Have you seen this topic?:

I have no idea what triggers it, but it does seem to happen on rare occasions.

Followd the link and did this:

Go to /var/spool/cups and delete the newest file there, it's probably corrupted.

Do: service cups start

And then: service cups status
to see if it runs, if not delete some more.....

It worked like a charm!!   :-D

Thanx 4 the help!
