During the installation it never asks for a dns server.

I am having dns problems, hostnames aren't resolving (can ping 69.8.30.22 but not wilnet1.com)

My gateway/firewall does dns automatically, works fine with other versions of linux and windows

Any Ideas?

SME Server has a dns resolver built in.  Unless port 53 is blocked and you have to point at another dns server it should work out of the box.  The question was removed (check the changelog) from the config options because too many people filled it in incorrectly.

All of the underlying code is still there if you must do this.  Just set the appropriate db entries and update.

What are the db entries I can enter to get my dns working.  Are they any plans to get this option added to the server-manger web pages?  I couldn't find it there either.

I verified the connection info was set correctly

1. tried both static and dhcp from gateway
2. every other node does not need dns set automatically
3. reinstalled last night

I might reinstall what I was using before, and then do an upgrade to the beta, not a full install.

What file do I need to edit to specifiy dns?

I ran thru the configuration again and let it reboot. I tried pinging google.com with no success.

I ran ifconfig and noticed that the eth1 (outside) didn't have an ip. Both int and ext are setup for static ip's, (eg 192.x.x.x). Maybe this is a bug from when switching from dhcp to statically assigned

I ran the configuration again and switched the local and external adapters around.

Now I don't have a dns problem, I can resolve domains and etc.

I'd still like to know what file to edit to specify dns
