email access from outside the LAN
« on: January 24, 2005, 04:54:32 PM »
Hi,
I have 2 servers running, 1 at home and 1 at my office and I want to access my email over the internet using MS Outlook. The server at home is in server/gateway mode connected by Roadrunner, I have set the email in server-manager to allow public access, and then put my settings in Outlook and it works OK. The other one is in server only mode and connected by DSL and as a Netgear Router because I had so much trouble with the DSL connection and did exactly the same settings but outlook tells me that the pop server was found but there was no response. I assume that it is something to do with the router settings. I have already forwarded http to my SME and that works great, but I can't see any option to forward 110 for the pop. SMTP is already forwarded. Am I missing something here? As always any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Del
