Be careful. The dovecot in SME is customised to allow '.' in folder names, and to allow mailfront to provide the authentication front end (simpler and more reliable that dovecot's native auth frontend).

Does anyone have a contrib with Dovecot 0.99.13 modified for SME Server's config? My users are experiencing IMAP problems with Thunderbird, Outlook Express, and Outlook. I'd like to try the current release of Dovecot to see if it fixes them.

My problems are with Outlook XP/2003.
Frequently when starting up outlook, I will get a connection error.  I simply do a File>Connect and the problem is solved.  This is with SME6.0 with all updates applied along with an SME6.0.1 servers.

The other issue I have are with folders that contain both email and folders.  Using Outlook, I can't see the root folder contents, but I can see contents of folders below it.  This doesn't happen on all folders.  I can usually resolve it by using IMP and renaming the root folder.

MJB, what problems do you see?
