There is a similar Post on the forums, but this has a slight twist...

i need 2 install SME on an existing Exchange Network but i want 2 use some open source technology Spam A. + ClamAV for filtering mail

all the e-mail accounts should stay on the exchange box but only a handful accounts will move 2 the SME box "for now! rest will follow later once the trail is over"

Anny idea how i should approach  this?

i was thinking :

*add exchange host name 2 host file exchange.company.xyz 192.168.0.5 on SME box

*add all user names to SME box and Forward the user mail eg.  user1@company.xyz 2 user1@exchange.pompany.xyz

but how will i allow the exchange box 2 relay mail through SME box ? or will SME allow smtp through  automatically ? if that is the case how can i control that hosts.allow + hosts.deny ?[/quote]

Firstly, grab the manual and have a good read, the feature you need to check out is the 'delegate mail server'.

Secondly, add the exchange box as a hostname in the hostnames panel if req.

Thridly, search for exchange & deleagte on the forums & you find lots of info on this function/feature.
