Anyone have experience of the above... here's the background...
All was ok until the BT broadband router died. Customer could not wait 5 days for a replacement so got an oldish Linksys WAG54G unit and we've been trying to set that up (remotely) to work in place of the BT box. We disabled the firewall and wireless element and also ensured no filters or blocks were set for in or outbound traffic. Finally, (as it seemed to work better this way) we disabled the DMZ.
BT give the router a dynamic IP on PPP connect, and they have 5 static IPs associated as "internal IP addresses". Its like this..
Under a No-NAT setting, we assigned one of the 5 statics to the LAN of the router (x.y.z.241) and set the external address of the server as x.y.z.137 (one of the oter statics). The mask that BT gave is 255.255.255.240. We went No-NAT so the IP of the server (.137) is publicly visible (which it is)
After much messing around with this router, we now have incoming mail to the .137 address (good), we can access the server-manager remotely and the command line as well. PPTP for remote users is fine and outgoing email is good too.
The problems we see are that outbound web traffic is a bit sluggish and syncing to the AMC is failing consistently.
When we access the console remotely, we can ping the AMC (sync.mitel-amc.com) ok.
Now, I know (from the Linksys box) that the WAN IP is currently something like 81.136.59.11 but the server is consistently seeing an "Internet Visible IP Address of 213.123.212.15" which is probably the last good IP it saw on its last sync with the BT box afore she died.
I'm really stuck here.. has anyone played with a Linksys WAG54AG and in partic with an AMC-sync set up?
It looks to me as if there is a route missing somewhere or as if the sync uses a port that is not being passed, but I'm totally lost as to where to go next.
Server Setup looks ok by the way but if anyone wants to help...
By the way, the firmware in that router is a bit old but it seems "relatively" stable.
Help!! Any ideas anyone?
Thanks in advance
Chris
