e-smith 4.1.2 is based on RH 7.0.

Thanks, do you install the HylaFAX on e-smith 4.1.2 server, if that is the case, the Howto HylaFax shd be using the ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/RPMS/i386/hylafax-4.1-1rh7.i386.rpm instead of the ftp://ftp.hylafax.org/binary/linux/redhat/RPMS/i386/hylafax-4.1-1rh6.i386.rpm, right?

I haven't installed Hylafax (I don't have any need for it), nor even looked at the howto, so I really can't say.  It may be, though, that there isn't much of a difference.
