Accessing ftp folders using "add network place" in
« on: February 08, 2005, 03:47:36 AM »
Greetings,

Here is one I'm at my wits end with.

1) All my users can access a folder on my 6.01 box containing files by using their individual ftp clients from remote locations. This is good.

2) I can access same files in my LAN using an ftp client.

3) I can access the same files in my LAN by setting up a new network connection to an ftp location in "add network places"

4) My users cannot connect by using 3 above.

5) When my users do connect with an ftp client they get the following.....

connecting to 61.9.203.140:21
Connected to 61.9.203.140 port 21

....ie a timeout followed by success???? But everything works OK.

So...why can't they connect using "add network places" ?

Is the connection timing out when XP is building the window with all the icons....???

any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation.

John
