Hi All !!

I am a newbie to Linux and SME.  I have gone through all the instructions and set up an SME Server in Server/Gateway mode.  Both of my NICs (3Com) are working, I can ping internal and external through the server.  I can also get into Server-Manager from my web browser by using 192.168.0.x/server-manager/ and make changes.  The problem is when I go to a Windows workstation (2k) and set the proxy to go to 192.168.0.x port 3128, it does not work.  I know I am really close here, just don't know where to go from here.

Please help.

Mark

Hi Mark,

SME has a transparent proxy, you dont need to set the proxy settings on your client machine (are you using DHCP?)

if you amend the w2k machine network connection settings and set the gateway up to point at your SME internal ip address.

hope this helps?

I guess I should have mentioned that I am in an existing Win2k domain and the server for that is handing out DHCP ip's.  I tried to add the "smeserver.local" domain to my DNS settings and added the sme6 ip address to gateway setting and unchecked all proxy info. rebooted and it did not work.  Any other suggestions??
