Help with configuration for outside access to inside network
« on: February 24, 2005, 06:49:15 PM »
Hi guys & gals,

I'm fairly new to SME although I've replaced our company's NT4 server with SME 6.x with good success.

Now I've been asked to set up network access to a piece of network enabled equipment on our local network from the internet to be able to demonstrate the remote capabilities of the equipment. Naturally, the connection to the piece of equipment needs to be secured from the local network. I also have a wireless router connected to the internal network on a different subnet. My SME server is configured as Private Server Gateway (no external web or mail service).

I'd sure like help setting this up if it can be done securely with the present server configuration.

Thanks all,

Offline Knuddi

Dan,

Which services do you need to get to the external network?

The service I need  is tcp/ip only I think.

Actually I'd like to require a password to gain access to the inside equipment and be able to log that access. I also need to be able to break that connection. There can only be one connection at a time.
