Restoring a single users e-mail.
« on: March 10, 2005, 03:00:52 AM »
I have a user that used the AutoArchive "feature" in Outlook and managed to delete an entire IMAP folder.

I have been using the backup to workstation contrib by Darrell May to backup this server.  I copied all the files that I need to the users mail directory and setup all the permissions the same way as the other directories in that folder.

When I look at the IMAP folder through the webmail on the SME server it shows me the subfolders and e-mails but they are all called the same thing;

From: &nbsb;
Subject: [no subject]

If I try to open them I get no contents in the e-mail.

I could really use some help here guys......

TKS..

That sounds like an ownership issue.
What is the user name and what ownership and permissions do you have on the folder and files.
You say you set them correctly but it does not sound like they are correct !!

Let's say the username for the user was cwoods.

I put in chown -R cwoods:cwoods to that users mail directory.  I made sure the users directory permissions were the same as well.

Does the mail have anything to do with MySQL?

Check the file sizes in the
/home/e-smith/files/users/user/Maildir/;folder/cur
I have the same problem.  When restoring them all the files were 0 byted even though they have sizes in the archive.  So far I havent been able to work out how to restore mine - WinRar will restore some but restores the rest as 0 byte, unrar on the SME server cant open the archives..
