I'm having problems viewing log files on my SME 5.0 box. All the files in /var/log and it's subdirectories are listed correctly but I can only view those files which are actually *in* subdirectories. e.g. /var/log/httpd/access_log will view perfectly but if I try to view /var/log/messages I get an error telling me that the file was empty and corresponding message in /var/log/messages itself of the following form:-
Oct 16 14:05:37 spodbox /etc/e-smith/web/panels/manager/cgi-bin/viewlogfiles[21568]: Config: ERROR: "/home/e-smith/configuration" exists but is not readable
I tried changing chmod +r on the file but all this did was stop the error message appearing, the log viewer still reports the file as being empty.
Anyone got any ideas?
