Add local network v6.5rc1
« on: March 21, 2005, 01:37:43 PM »
Hi.  In the Local Networks server-manager window, I see the following:

Quote
"Router" should be the IP address of the router on your local network via which the additional network is reached.

Mine is a server-gateway, and the other network is on the internet. Both locations can ping each other.

I get a failure message if I enter:
1. The adsl router IP
2. The SME external IP
3. nothing
4. 127.0.0.1

I don't get an error message if I put the internal IP of this server, but I wanted to route the additional network directly into this server through the external interface.

What should I put in this field?  My SME v5.5 allows this field to be left blank, at which point it reverts to the value "default".

Any thoughts?  Thanks, David.

Then it's not a "local" network.

Thanks for the quick reply Charlie.

I had thought that the purpose of the "local Networks" function was to promote _any_ other network so that it is considered to be "local".

Can you give me a pointer of a good starting point to achieve this under 6.5 rc1?

Thanks, David.

That's the way it behaved prior to 6.0, but that was considered to be a bug.

Use a VPN.
