Advice needed for smeserver-backup2ws-0.0.1-20.noarch.rpm
« on: March 23, 2005, 12:31:32 PM »
Hi there,

I'm running an sme 6.0.1-01. Trying to backup the e-bays on a windows-share with a.m. rpm. Starting the job reports (tail -f /var/log/messages):

Mar 23 12:24:12 warp kernel: smb_lookup: find //108384 failed, error=-13
Mar 23 12:24:12 warp e-smith-bg: /bin/mkdir: cannot create directory /mnt/backup2ws.108384/108384': Permission denied
Mar 23 12:24:13 warp e-smith-bg: /bin/rm: cannot remove /mnt/backup2ws.108384/108384/108384.03.23.05.rar': Permission denied
Mar 23 12:24:13 warp e-smith-bg: Error occured removing previous backup at /sbin/e-smith/backup2ws-backup line 96.

I installed the package as root on the server-console. The command ls -l in /mnt reports:

[root@warp mnt]# ls -l
ls: backup2ws.108384: Permission denied
total 8
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root         4096 Mar 14 18:23 cdrom
drwxr-xr-x    2 root     root         4096 Mar 14 18:23 floppy

While changing in the directory backup2ws.108384 and then typing ls, reports:

[root@warp backup2ws.108384]# ls
ls: .: Stale NFS file handle

I have no idea about this. Anybody any help?

Thank's in advance
Stefan

I have been testing sme 6.5 and have had no problems using an older version of it.

it sends the email backup is complete and will restore fine as far as I can tell

install in console or ssh makes no difference you will see a new link in server-manager to set you backups

http://www.eelriver.com/sme/sme-6.5/rar-3.1.0-1dmc.i386.rpm

http://www.eelriver.com/sme/sme-6.5/smeserver-backup2ws-0.0.1-18.noarch.rpm

INSTALL THE - - - rar-3.1.0-1dmc.i386.rpm - - - FIRST

you will need to buy a license for rar to get rid of the un-licensed remarks about 30 bucks

of course you will need to update your server-manager after installing the ws rpm

/etc/e-smith/events/actions/navigation-conf

works for me

I tried this - the result is:

Mar 24 08:49:59 warp e-smith-bg: /bin/mkdir: cannot create directory /mnt/backup2ws.194146/194146': Permission denied
Mar 24 08:49:59 warp e-smith-bg: /bin/rm: cannot remove /mnt/backup2ws.194146/1
94146/194146.03.24.05.rar': Permission denied
Mar 24 08:49:59 warp e-smith-bg: Error occured removing previous backup at /sbin/e-smith/backup2ws-backup line 96.
Mar 23 14:23:16 warp last message repeated 2 times
Mar 24 08:49:59 warp kernel: smb_lookup: find //194146 failed, error=-13

I have no explanation - is there anybody with some other ideas how to get this work?

Stefan

I couldn't find out the reason for the errors. But I found out, that the errors are probably depending on the win-clients.

I made on two different clients (one XP, SP2 the other NT, SP6) new shares. And, what shall I say, it works. On the SME I deleted all old backup-jobs. I installed rar-3.1.0-1dmc.i386.rpm and smeserver-backup2ws-0.0.1-20.noarch.rpm.

Maybe it helps other users running in the same problem.
