Topic: Timescale for a full release of 7.O?

This might be asking the impossible question but has Charlie stated how he intends to progress 7.0 (I note Alpha4 has been posted today). Main reason for interest is the thorny old chestnut of hardware compatibility and particularly SATA.

I have noted from various posts that the Legacy RH7.3 in 6.5RC1 does apparently have some SATA support if the controller/disks can be set to emulate IDE.

We are just about to purchase some new hardware with SATA HD but possibly not able to emulate IDE and therefore it seems to me that if we want to stick with SME (which we do) then we really have no option than wait for an official release of 7.

Anyone in the know?

Now you know you won't get an answer to this question.
No one has ever been able to tell anyone when a release would be ready.  It will be ready when it's ready.

Perhaps a SATA raid card like the 3ware varieties would allow you to use sata drives with SME?

Thanks for that tip. Only issue is that the cheapest card costs almost as much as the server - DELL 1425SC - and what we are planning only requires one disk in any event

Ps. it's always such fun to see those DELL "from only" prices for machines - barely *looking* too closely at the 'configurator' button makes the price balloon.
