is this recommended? if so, could i safely use dan's howto i found here:

Dan's howto is similar, but includes some changes for virtual hosts. It's possible some files have moved or changed names since Dan wrote it.

No contribs or config changes are recommended - you have to decide if you need it bad enough to live with the consequences if you hose your server.

In this case, you're just making changes to some text files - keep meticulous records, and you can undo it if you don't like the results.

thanks for the reply..

my problem is that i have two SME 6.01 servers on the same wan at different ends of the country. both are mail servers for the same domain. everything works fine except that users at both locations require webmail and we only have one breakout point.

at first i thought i would set or cisco for forward port 80 to the local server on port 80 and port 81 to port 80 on the remote server. the local server's webmail works fine, but the or 81 --> 80 forward is screwing up so I figure the only way around that is to change the apache port and use port 81 for that server and change my ciso rules for forward port 81 --> port 81.

what are your thoughts?

My isp blocks port 80 so I went and changed the listening port for Apache and it worked fine.  I don't use webmail so I don't know the effects it has on that, but if you want to know how I did it, drop me an email and I will get you the instructions on what I did.  I don't have them on me at the moment.

It was using 6.01 (Custom ISO)
