Fristly, there is no 4.0, only an unreleased and incomplete preview
of 4.0. Please join the developer mailing list if you are interested in discussion concerning 4.0.
I have no experience with pppoe and don't know of anyone who has. Whatever discussions you can find concerning pppoe and Red Hat linux would probably apply.
I also don't have any information about Bell Atlantic DSL, but someone else may have. The e-smith server can be used with cable modems, with varying degrees of customisation. DSL may be the same.
