"smeserver smp" or "smeserver up"
« on: March 29, 2005, 08:27:10 AM »
I have searched forums but I can't find anything telling me the difference between "smeserver smp" or "smeserver up" boot option.
What is the difference between the two and which one should I choose?
Thanks

If you have single (1) processor you choose UP
If you hace multiple (2 or more) processors choose SMP

Good luck

P IV w/Hyperthreading use SMP

You should also use SMP if you have a SINGLE Intel P4 with Hyperthreading, i.e., a SINGLE processor that can act as multiple processors.  I don't know how much it improves performance though.
