Topic: blank email sender

I am using SME 6.0.1 as email server.
one of the internal users keep sending alot of email with blank sender. is there any why to block the blank sender for the internal users.

One way is to talk to them and threaten them with mayhem if they don't stop.

Technically you could do it with mailfront mailrules, but currently there aren't separate rules for internal v external users. If you block external messages with an empty sender you will stop bounce messages from coming back in. You don't want to do that.

This server is master SMTP server relaying for other internal email servers, so it's not easy to block the infected server. I am trying to block the blank sender using mail blocking contributes by adding the following rule:

Reject
From : <>
To     : *@*

But still receiving blank emails

I had the same problem a long time ago.

Go to your server manager
remote access

And disable remote access from the entire internet (public access). Set it to (no access) or (local networks).

(they are conecting to your server and use it as a mailbom machine).
