Topic: Unable to install the CME software on a Pentium III MMX 450

I am trying to install the CME software on a Pentium III MMX 450 Mhz, 128 MB RAM, 2.1 MB HD.

The PC start with installing and stop with this message:
EXT2-fs: unable to read superblock
cramfs: wrong magic
FAT: unable to read boot sector
isofs-read_superblock: bread failed, dev=09:00, iso_blknum=16, block=32
kernel panic: unable to mount root fs on 09:00
....
host/usb-uhci.c: Host controller halted, trying to restart

Whats is wrong? the harware is ok, the PC has running Windows 2000 PRO without any probs.

2.1 GB is a pretty small hard drive ... you might try using the drive maker's utility to completely wipe out (usually referred to as "write zeroes") the hard drive and try again.

Problem is that you are trying to install CME instead of SME  

I think the problem might be with Master Boot Record. If you setup your Hard drive with non-standard partitioning software, MBR might not be recognized by SME. Even if you repartiton and reformat the hard drive, MBR might not be changed. I am new to linux, so I am not sure of Linux command for this; but from windows startup disc, type fdisk /mbr

I dont know - but that messages will not appairs
any more its stop with :

fdisk/mbr -> nothing happens, and I got the same error
             I will try a nother HD and return with the results

Now I´we had tryed another PC and the result is precisely the same, and the same error occure.
I have checked out that the MD5 checksum on the ISO image is ok.

What is my prob.? wat can I do?

Try to burn this image again on slow speed (8x or less) and see if this helps.

It ok now - I´we used CDBurnerXP Pro to burn the ISO with the default settings, its up and running now. I dont know yet whats wrong with the settings in the Nero Burner software, but dont matter now.

Hi Allan,

Here is a brief outline to burning ISO's with Nero

(1) Start Nero
(2) click cancel on the wizard.
(3) click on "recorder" menu and select "choose recorder"
Note: make sure the recorder is selected to your burner and NOT the
image recorder (virtual device)
(4) click on "file" and choose "burn image"
(5) from here just follow the prompts in the popup window.

And burn ISO's no faster than 8X and make sure you finalize the disk

I have always used Nero under winblows or Linux to burn ISO's and had no probs

Well, that's interesting. I've always burned my iso's at 40x or better and never had a problem. And I use Nero.
