Mysql problem? Mambo 4.5.2. Problem
« on: May 05, 2005, 11:52:08 PM »
Hi,

I have a sme 6.0.1. running with several Mambo pages.  Two of them (version 4.5.2.1)went off line today and I have no idea why.

The page shows:
This site is temporarily unavailable.
Please notify the System Administrator
               2

Turns out some mambo people say its mysql so I check the logs ... nothing on mysql nor in messages.

I login with putty => do mysql => do the Grant all .... => do flush privileges and the first pages starts up again....

Strange thing is when I do the same for the second page the first page goes off-line again.

Both pages that go off-line are of the latest 4.5.2 version of mambo. Older pages don't seem to be affected.

I am beginning to think its a mambo problem but all worked nicely next to each other for at least several weeks.

Has anyone got any ideas on how to find out what's going on? On how to resolve this problem?

Any help you can give please do ... :-)

Thanks in advance,

Jan

update:

i have tried downgrading my mainpage to an earlier version of mambo.. still no luck. Only one of these two pages can access mysql it seems. All other pages have no trouble whatsoever to connect just my primary I-bay and a local page.

I am at a loss to explain it! I also checked mambo forums but all they say mysql may not be running. Which is clearly not the case here.

So I guess its a SME problem?

Jan

If both mysql and apache are running, it's not an SME problem. IOW, it's a mambo problem. The different mambo sites do have separate databases, tables and passwords, don't they?

hello Charlie,

Yes both are running and yes both have a seperate database and seperate passwords.
Strange thing is that it has been working perfectly for many weeks now. No changes have been made by me for a while now,

Any idea on where I can find more logfiles that may show what is going on?

with kind regards,

Jan

Hi again,

Well the problem persists but it seems like its only between either the primary ibay and an ibay called local. All other ibays have mambo running, some different versions some the same.

I really do not know where else to look. I reinstalled the primary ibay from scratch dropped the database created a new one  and still the problem returns. Either the primary ibay has the ability to connect to the database or this one other page located in an ibay called local.

Has anyone have any idea why this happend and/or how to fix it? Help in finding the cause by looking at speciffic logs would also be welcome.

please let me know if something springs to mind. For now I am thinking of creating another ibay and have a redirect html in the primary ibay. I have a hunch this would be an effective workaround.

regards,

Jan
