hardware compatabilty

I am thinking of upgrading our very ancient server that I currently run SME on.

Dell are doing good deals right now on the SC420 range and this would suit my needs perfectly.

Obviously the SATA version is no good right now but I was thinking of going for the SCSI version.

I had a look at the RH HCL here:
 http://hardware.redhat.com/hcl/?pagename=hcl&view=allhardware&vendor=1&class=8#list

but there is no mention of the SC420.

Does anyone know if the current version of SME will work with that hardware? I know I may need to use some PCI NIC's rather than the inbuild one but I am more conmcerned about whether the SCSI card and drives will be seen.

Any ideas?

Many thanks

.. alot of the newer gear is too new for RH7.3 (SME 6.x base).

I have great success using older Compaq server that have fully support hardware under RH7.3 but are still very reliable & robust; DL380 G1 to G3, ML370 G1 to G3, DL580, ML530.

Most of these systems can be had for fairly small $$$ on eBay with some available with large amounts of memory & storage.

Here is Australia I can get a dual PIII Xeon 1GHZ+, 2GB RAM, RAID controller, 1-200GB storage, redundant PSU (rack or tower) for around A$1,000 or US$700; a great buy for the money.
