Silly question,
Make an Ibay, set it up in such a way that users can access it worldwide and you already have your subdomain.
All you need to do now is make it clear to the DNS that you have subdomains.
That's all..

Hi Harro
Thanks for answering.
I of course know I need a location to direct the sub domain, BUT
e-smith-manager will not accept "subName.myDomain.com"
How to make the DNS aware of sub domain is my question.

Hmmmmmmmm Dave,
I'm not really sure.. BUT can it be that this problem is fixed in the 4.1.2. server update ?
At home I have 2 domain-names attached to my 4.1.2 server without ANY trouble. I simply entered both domain-names in the virtual-section and the rest is done by itself.
I only had to use outside DNS servers to point to my IP offcourse. And e-smith takes care of the rest.
Anyone aware of this update from 4.1 to 4.1.2 ????????

Sorry, I _am_ running 4.1.2
I have no trouble with sub domain on my Unix servers.
I must be missing something when it comes to e-smith
