Topic: 7.0a16 - No server console access?

I just installed the 7a16 release for testing and found an immediate problem...

No access to the server-console.

"The requested URL /common/noframes was not found on
this server"

It accepts user name and password, and displays the top frame and right frame properly.  it appears that the left frame, however, is where the problem is... the frame with all the goodies.

Anyone else experience this problem?  I'm reinstalling to make sure I can replicate this problem.

Looks like the /common alias is misdirected, missing, or otherwise misconfigured?

I was able to temporarily fix this problem and gain access to the server-manager by making the following changes:

/etc/httpd/admin-conf/httpd.conf

Changed Listen directive from 127.0.0.1:980 to <IP of
server>:980

/etc/e-smith/templates/etc/httpd/admin-conf/httpd.conf/20Manager

Changed Listen directive from 127.0.0.1:980 to <IP of
server>:980

Hope this helps anyone having the same problem.

I'm trying to figure out the point of this condescending post.

I posted my temporary work around to the bugtracker before I posted it here.

I have no interest in seeing my name 'up in lights'.

You did look at the bugtracker yourself before this pointless post didn't you?

whoa, chill dude!

This was a 'tongue in cheek' prod to post stuff into the bugtracker, it was not intended to be anything more and certainly NOT condescending.

I sometimes forget that while my first language is English, for others here its not the case, so I should be more careful to make the 'humour' obvious so that I don't offend anyone.

I commend you posting your workaround to the bugtracker, many don't take this step, hence my post.

If anyone has taken offense I apologise unreservedly, all I hope is for everyone to get on & maybe for people to be a little less sensitive; I will try to be a bit less obtuse.

First, I'm not new to SME as an end-user, but I've also not participated in the forums here at Contribs or on SF, which I think more people should do.

Second, I'm very excited about the move to Centos and I want to assist Gordon, Charlie, RequestedDeletion, Greg, and other developers in working through bugs as they make the transition.  As such I've joined the smeserver-developers mailing list, I monitor the SF forums, and have spent a significant amount of time looking at the bugtracker to see if I can help.

I know that these guys are overloaded and I'd like to help in any way I can.

That being said, my reasons for wanting to help are somewhat selfish; I run my own business and package, rebrand, and customize open source projects to sell to clients with support contracts.  SMEServer has been a great project in this regard.

However, I'll again emphasize that I have no desire to see my 'name up in lights'.  I still don't understand the impetus behind that statement, but I've said what I have to say and I see no purpose in addressing it further.

Lastly, I'm college educated and English is my native tongue, so I'm not sure what you're implying.

But, on to more important things... as far as I'm concerned this issue is serving no purpose.

Smeghead, have you done any testing of 7.0a16?
