eMail and RoadRunner PROBLEMS
« on: November 02, 2001, 06:04:12 AM »
I am having a problem with SMTP. If I TELNET on PORT 25 using my internal address I get the appropriate 220 e-smith.mydomain.com; however if I TELNET from an outside client to my e-smith box I get 220 cc???.24.25.??.??.nycap.rr.com

I am obviously using RoadRunner as my ISP. I also have a Dynamic IP; however my address has not changed in well over a year. I would like to host my own mail, but whenever I send myself mail from the outside in, it reports that the server does not support relaying.

Is this because from the Outside-In the HOSTNAME.DOMAINNAME is different?

Does anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I think your ISP is blocking port 25 just as mine (Comcast@Home) is.  I'm trying to find a way to change which port obtuse listens to.  They also block port 80.

Hello,

I am also running the roadrunner service
and they have not block port 80 or port 25. but I am afraid that they will when I lease exspect it. could you suggest what to do to prepair for this and how to test to see what ports are open?
sorry Tim for jumpping on you thread.

Thanks
