I'm still in a configuration mode after installing SME 2 months ago.. I'm using 6.5 and I thought in a earlyier version there was an option to boot right to a command prompt..Is there a way to get it to go into console mode without rebooting?

You guys know what im talking about right? When you install the SME it reboots into the SME "Startup" page where you can configure things.. If I remember correctly there was an option to ONLY have it boot to a command prompt for security reasons.

I know exactly what you mean...

On 6.0.1 you have to go through step 2 "Configure This Server" in the server console and the last choice is how you want the server to start.  Your choices are "auto" (go to the server console)  or "login" (boot to a login prompt).

I don't know if this is the same in 6.5 or not as I have not tried 6.5.  Can anyone confirm yes or no on this?
In life, you must either "Push, Pull or Get out of the way!"

What do you want to do exactly?
To "get it to go into console mode", use one of the above, or logout (exit) and login with admin.

If you want to change the configuration, resetting the "auto" (go to the server console) or "login" (boot to a login prompt) option, go to the console as stated earlier, and configure your server.

That would require a reboot if I remember correctly.
It really only matters when you're going to reboot so that's easy enough.

Offcourse there is probably some way off doing this without rebooting and going through all of the configuration. I just don't know how...

I do believe this is about the same for 6.0 and 6.5.
