Have been steadily adding rules into the templating system... Now, after expanding the template, the final part ie the restarting of masquerading gives rise to this reported error:
Jun 30 02:24:41 systa kernel: iptables: loop hook 1 pos 0 00000022.
Also the new appended file of rules has the end characters missing. My gut feeling is that I've reached an operational limit or something. Pico indicates that there are currently some 783 lines of code (rules) - one line per rule.
Have I reached an internal maximum of iptables rules? If so is there a way of increasing the limit?

[post edit 2005-07-07] I wasn't able to identify anything amiss. Experimentally tried resuming the appending of rules and there have been no further error reports... Not entirely certain whether that's good or bad but at least it seems OK to resume my cathartic anti-spam activity;~) Will post back here if the issue returns or I *do* actually hit a glass ceiling ----Robert
