Hi All,

I have hit a problem and i can't reboot my server that is running under raid 1, It says "your system appears to have shutdown uncleanly" then it trys to do a integrity check, but when it trys i get this error "fsck.ext3 permission denied".

Then it drops me down to a shell to do maintians after giving root password.

I have searched this forum and google but have not found anything to work.

when you are in single user mode, check the fsck.ext3 file (I think it's in /sbin or /usr/sbin) and make sure it is owned by root:root and the permissons are at least 544.

Hi Arnie,

Thanks for your advice, it not work cause i have found out the drives have locked them selves to read only and the fsck.ext3 is currupted.

All i going to do is drain the information i need to off the HDDs on to another linux pc and recover what i can.

Cheers
