I have a small home network with a Mac and PCs. The Mac happens to be in another room and is currently only connected when I string a 50 foot ethernet cable down the hallway. I'd like to set up a wireless network, and would like to know the most inexpensive way to do this. Wireless ethernet adapters for my old iMac are either not available or I cannot find them. It has an RJ45 ethernet port and USB ports (older type - 1.2 I think). Is there such thing as a wireless hub?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've considered wireless router into modem and ethernet wire into iMac. Then attach wireless adapter to SME server (I'd have to find one that's compatible). In this configuration, however, is it still possible to have the iMac go through the SME (Server Gateway) to the internet?
