Just know i'm doing something stupid!!
« on: July 28, 2005, 04:22:12 PM »
Hi there,
I'm trying to install sme v7.26 onto an old server with sata drives.  it originally had two sata's in a mirror raid configuration, and kept getting anaconda boot error when trying to install.
So, I've deleted the array, and even disconnected one of the sata drives in order to get an installation working!
What I now have is one SATA drive with a Promise controller.  The installation of v7.26 seems to go fine, albeit it suddenly isn't asking me for ip addresses of my network cards...it copies all it's required files to disk, and then the boot image and all seems fine....I then reboot.
I get either:
- GRUB Hard Drive Error or
- it tries to PXE boot, but obviously can't and asks me to provide a boot device...
I'm not certain what I'm doing wrong, but I'm sure one of you will help me out!
Thanks
Amanda

You mean 7.0alpha26. The only reason that you should be using that alpha release is to test it, and report anything which doesn't work perfectly to the developers.

The correct place for feedback is the bug tracker at http://smeserver.sourceforge.net/.

Thanks.

That's exactly the version i mean.  I need to introduce a new sme server onto this school network reutilising an old server with sata drives that they had haven't been able to get a lower version to recognize the sata drives.  That's why I was trying that one.  I have now got it installed....weird motherboard configuration on these satas.

That's great. But you should still report anything which doesn't work perfectly to the address indicated.
