E-Smith & Microsoft Messenger
« on: November 12, 2001, 06:47:21 PM »
Did anyone figured out how to use audio/video features of Instant Messenger with E-Smith v5? Regular text messages and file send works with no extra configuration. I tried voice with Net2Phone and it works as well. But with no voice or video with IM.
I don't want to forward ports to just one workstation on a network, but be able to do it from any.

msn and MS netmiiting requiers special h.323 proxy. There are programs witch provide this. One of them is open gatekeeper.
there is some talk about h.323 programs in the faq pages (if i remember correctly). The address of this is opengatekeeper.org .

The only program is that i havent found this program in rpm format.
If you know how to install it from a tarball, then go ahead (if possible give me detailed instructions on this package)

Please try searching it yourself too, if you manage to locate it, please put up a link for me.

Hope this helps

I've used opengate for some time with netmeeting on my old e-smith server and now on the upgrade v5 server and all seems to work. All I did was download the executable from the opengatekeeper.org site and but it in the /bin dir chmod to 700 and then exec with opengate -d to run it as a deamon.
But it does come back with:

Memory leaks detected, press Enter to display . . .

If anyone knows why this is please can you tell me how to resolve this.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi all,

I read that some of you experienced no problems with files sending with msn messenger in combination with e-smith / sme. Is that right? I can receive files with msn messenger from others who do NOT use e-smith/sme but cannot send files?!

I don't need the voice support but I want to be able to send files with messenger. Does anyone know a solution for this??

Regards,

Timothée
