Topic: Email sorting with ADSL connection

We've just switched to ADSL from a dialup connection (Server is v6.0). Internet access is sorted, but mail is not being delivered to or received from external addresses. Internal mail delivery is fine.

In the server-manager panel the email settings allow for Standard, ETRN or multidrop. It seems that with a dedicated connection, I should change this from the existing multidrop to Standard. However, we use the sort header feature which appears to be only for multidrop (as I understand it, this allows us to have a single mailbox with our ISP with mail being delivered to the correct user on our network on the basis of headers inserted by the ISP).

The only other change I've made to the server is a switch from Private Server and Gateway to Server only, as the Router has its own firewall.

This is all a bit new to me and I'd appreciate any help or suggestions

Incoming mail is now fine - but I'm still not able to deliver mail to our ISP's SMTP server. I read somewhere else that it is possible to continue to use multidrop even with a dedicated line, so we're going to stick with that for now.

All OK now. I eventually upgraded the server to 6.5 and receiving and delivering mail has been perfect from the word go.
