Using banking software

Hi to all,

does anybody know, if you can use software, that use other than www or ftp ports? At this moment, we use software, that routes everything by a sock protocol (Winsock, of MS Proxy). Can I change to E-Smith, without having problems? What we need to use is, POP3 (to different servers), MSN, ICQ, and Banking Software.

Hi,

E-smith doesn't block outbound connections so normal web stuff should all work as normal.

The only issues that tend to arise are ones related to external sites attempting to initiate comms to an internal machine.

I'm not sure about your banking app, but this problem only tends to arise with File transfers within ICQ (of which a 'fix' can be applied).

In short, you shouldn't suffer any issues beyond what a normal corporate firewall policy would raise.

Luke
