Hi there,

I am busy installing the e-smith server, but I can't get it to work with internet. I use adsl (mxstream). But the problem is more simple. I have two network cards. How do I give them seperately an ip number. One is for the LAN, and needs to get an ip like 192.168.0.1, and the one to the router, needs to get: 10.0.0.150. Than a gateway (to internet/router) schould be configured to 10.0.0.138. But how do I accomplish this?

In the documentation, there is a great diagram in section 4.3.2 that describes how e-smith should be setup with ADSL/cable modems.

One of your network cards should be connected to your LAN (e-smith suggests 192.168.1.1), and the other should point to your IP address from your ISP.  In the setup, it asks you for your gateway IP address and this is the address you should enter.  

In your post, you give Class A addresses as examples.  This is incorrect.  Either you have a static IP from your ISP or you need to use the DHCP options to get a non-static IP address.  Either way, you should not be entering 10.0.0.x addresses in the setup fields.

I have a static ip address and my system is set up as Jon suggests. Internet access from the lan works perfectly, however, I am totally blocked from remote access (ssh, etc) and my website is not accessable from outside the local network. I really need help with my remote situation and internet access to my website.

Are you using a xDSL connection?

Some ISP-s dont allow incoming access to your computer.
It is just like a firewall.

ask your ISP about incomming access.

On the console you must login with admin and the admin password

You come in the server console mode.

You select " configure this server"

give the domain name you want (Fill inwhatyou want but dont use a nowed doamin)

give a server name

Selecteer your local network card (driver)

Give your internal ip number (192.168.0.1)
Netmask (255.255.255.0)

Select operation mode  (Server and Gateway)

Selecteer you external interface (driver)

give the external ip nr (10.0.0.150)
netmask (255.255.255.0)
Select teh gateway adres (10.0.0.138)

View ather question about dhcp intern ect.
Read manual about this

De beschrijving die Johan aangegeven heeft heb ik helemaal opgevolgd, echter ik heb geen password en userid op hoeven te geven ?

Ik ben al dagen bezig allerlei variaties uit te voeren op de installatie, maar niets werkt.
Ik gebruik e-smith server versie 5.00.

Zou je mij persoonlijk kunnen mailen, zodat je mij misschien kunt helpen ?
