6.01 - Mail being rejected by recipients
« on: September 27, 2005, 11:56:47 PM »
Our IP address has been blocked by the MAPS spam list, as bing part of Tiscali's dynamic range; even though it is a static IP address. We are getting a lot of emails refused. We need to make it seem as if the mail that we are sending has come from smpt.tiscali.co.uk. They have sent the following instructions for use with Qmail.

Quote
Add these lines to your sendmail.mc file:
define(SMART_HOST',mail.yourisp.net')dnl <--- Your ISP's mail server name goes here
MASQUERADE_AS(yourisp.net)dnl  <--- Your ISP's domain name goes here
FEATURE(allmasquerade')dnl
FEATURE(masquerade_envelope')dnl

Can someone tell if their is a way that I can do this with sendmail or are there some equivalent instructions.

Thanks for any help on this.

You could specify that all mail is sent via your ISP's smtp server using the Server Manager Email panel under
Address of Internet provider's mail server
add - smpt.tiscali.co.uk

Ray, I have tried that but mail seems to take a very long time to get where its going. When using our server it was very quick; it we route through Tiscali it can take up to 1 hour.

I thought by pretending to go through Tiscali we could have the best of both worlds.

Thanks for the tip.

Mudra.

Get a better ISP ie one with faster mail servers & one who does not tolerate spammers using their accounts !
