Multilog: Warning: Unable to write to /var/log/imap/current: input/output error

This is appearing on the console once a day at the moment the error message referrs to imap, smtp etc as being unable to write to.

The server is not accessable once this happens.

I end up doing a reboot and the server will usually fail to reboot if I am lucky I will be able to repair with fcsk.

Does anyone have any ideas on what to look at with this.

I have plenty of disk space 183G to be exact.

Any thought welcome.

Check your cron entries to see if there is a process that runs once a day that might be the root cause.

Thanks smeghead I will look through the permissions tonight. Funnily enough this has not happened today so far.  

Still plenty of time though. I will need to continue to keep a close eye on the server.

Mind I only need to nurse it for a couple more weeks before moving everything to a new machine.

I have now resolved this issue.

The problem was a slowly failing 3 month old hard drive. Needless to say it is now wending its way back to the supplier. A rebuild will hopefully see the end of all of these issues.
