Regarding the contrib backup2ws i have a few questions.

I use smeserver6.0.1, and want to use backup2ws to create a backup in the Primary ibay, /Primary/files/backup

Created jobs:

I Tried the manual backup, with weekday: manual, hour: manual, minute: manual.

There are no entry's created for backup2ws in cron:

Tried packages:

Both give the same results...none...
Reinstalltion also doesnt solve the problem...

Running:
/etc/e-smith/events/actions/conf-backup2ws
Gives no errors

There is an conf-backup2ws entry in /etc/e-smith/events/actions/, although the only entry created by backup2ws

After package installation did:
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event post-upgrade

/sbin/e-smith/signal-event reboot

Rights 0750 for backup2ws.175374  backup2ws.911  backup2ws.271696 Maybe this is the problem?
Read on http://myezserver.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=661, but this is about newer contrib for smeserver7.0 with cron right, since using manual, there shouldn't be a problem?

I am coming closer to the point that i really don't know where to find the solution...and been searching for a few days.

The correct rpms to use are:
smeserver-backup2ws-0.0.1-22dmay.noarch.rpm
rar-3.1.0-1dmc.i386.rpm

The answer has been staring you in the face the whole time !

The name of the program is called backup to workstation, so I suggest you use a workstation share rather than a server ibay as the destination.

It clearly says in the back2ws panel
"Enter the backup destination in UNC format. Example: [//computername/sharename]"
eg
//workstation1/backup

Use a password that is valid for that workstation.


If you want to do backups directly on your server then use tar. You can create a scheduled cron job if required.

You could even use rsync
