file or folder permissions

Hi guys
I'm trying to find a way to have read only files on an ibay. Ideally a folder that stores all its content as read only. It'd be even better if users could write new files to the folder but not change the content. Or maybe have certain users with permission to change and everybody else be read only. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks

Its all builtin features descrubed in the manuals.
Create group and include users with Write permissions in it. In the ibay properties give that (write) group owenrship and select permissions "Write group, read everyone"

Yes I know how to do it for an ibay. What I'm asking is how to accomplish the same thing on a subfolder of an ibay. I need a subfolder for which regular users have read only access. The purpose is a place to store and share document template files of which the originals shouldn't be altered. If creating a separate ibay is the answer then I can go with that. However for conveniece a read only folder is all I really need.

Did you try login as "domain admin" and use windows security tab for permissions? Manual "chmod" from the linux shell will work as well. Those permissions may get lost (reset) if you change ibays properties. I think design idea was to use different ibays for different types of files/permissions.

Yeah I tried that from windows and it didn't work. I figured it'd have to be changed via command shell. Let me ask you this, can a folder be set through the shell to permit new files be writen but not allow any modifications afterwords?

The little check box for read only doesn't work, but everything works fine if I set it from the security tab. Thanks again for all you help. I'll try not to such an idiot in the future.
