Topic: SME 7.0 smtp-proxy / Firewall config

Can someone tell me if in the SME 7.0 Version is a smtp-proxy activated?

Another question is, if there is any possiblity to configure the firewall over a gui interface or a an command line parameter?

  Take a look in the GUI. You'll see the Proxy Settings.  Yes, they are activated and transparent to the user.

  The firewall is a little different.  The GUI controls the ports that it needs opened to interact with either your local area network or the Internet.... so in several places you'll see dropdowns that allow access for either the local net or the Internet. There is also a port forwarding facility that lets you chose which ports to forward to the inside network.

  Now... if you are in server-only mode these setting aren't very useful to you.

  If you need more control learn IPTABLES and get into the command line.

Sorry I've not seen the proxy settings, I'm used to the old 6.0 config panel

Ok, about the Firewall, so I have to do IPTABELS in command line, but where can I store the rules so that they will not be deleted the next time I start the server?

  Well... you have some learning to do.  There is a template system.  Take a look in /etc/e-smith  you should see templates and templates-custom.

templates is where the base code is kept.
Templates-custom is where you oru I might make modifications.

These directories are read and assembled into the actual config files in /etc /var etc...  If you poke around you can probably figure it out.  Or you can email me directly with questions.  I'd be happy to help.
