Can anyone tell me what needs to be done in order to reconfigure my server to work with charter pipeline?

TIA

Is that whats happend? Ever since the "transition" started my e-smith server won't connect but every other os does. I tried everything, even re-installing from scratch. I would very much like to know as well.

Same Here. My connection to AT&T / MediaOne also fails.  Whereas other O/S configurations with the same hardware work.

The problem seems to be when eth1 is being configured at startup.  Without this NIC operational, there is no hope of this working.

I have always had Pipeline and am using it with SME no problem.  I have used it with ver 4.12 and 5.  Pipeline is now using Dynamic addressing for everybody (assigned by your MAC address) according to a memo sent out by them several months ago.  Choose option 2 in external network setup (use Ethernet address as client identifier) and it should work no problem.  You may want to try the eth1 eth0 swapped option

By the way my connection is in SC.

hope this helps

I use MediaOne (AT&T Broadband).  Mine now works also!

I contacted the cable company and asked them to provision the MAC for my new NIC.  Without the MAC, the cable modem will not issue the NIC an IP address via DHCP.

Can you explain this "provision the MAC for your NIC".  I dont understand what that means.  I have Charter Pipeline and I can not get my SME 5 to get a DHCP assigned address.  Thanks for your help!

That dosnt seem to work for me.  What type of cable modem are you using?  I have a SURFboard 4100.  When I try that option dhcp just times out.  Any ideas?
